Class of 2029 Pinning Ceremony

Howard University College of Dentistry (HUCD) recently welcomed 80 new students into the Class of 2029 at its annual Pinning Ceremony — a cherished tradition in dental education.
The pinning ceremony holds a deep symbolic meaning. It is not simply a welcome event; it represents the official induction of aspiring students into the profession of dentistry. By receiving a pin from HUCD faculty, each student takes on a visible emblem of responsibility — a commitment to integrity, compassion, scholarship, and service.
For the Class of 2029, this moment is a milestone marking the start of a rigorous academic and clinical journey. It is also a reminder that their learning is rooted in the community, guided by faculty, supported by peers, and connected to the long legacy of Howard-trained dental professionals.
The ceremony bridges the past and the future, reinforcing HUCD’s mission: to prepare students to serve not only as skilled clinicians but also as leaders who advance oral health equity in diverse communities.
