United Concordia gifts HUCD students $100,000 in Scholarships

A highlight of the Pinning Ceremony was the extraordinary generosity extended to Howard University College of Dentistry students through a $100,000 scholarship gift from United Concordia Dental, presented by HUCD alumnus Dr. Roosevelt Allen (Class of 1986). Ten HUCD students were each awarded $10,000 in support of their studies and professional development.
Scholarship Recipients:
- Class of 2027 (D2): Brittany Smith, Travis Broussard, Leroy Scott, Jelani Thompson, Demetrious Asili, Kenneth Smith, Danielle Kirkland, Blair Scott
- Class of 2026 (D3): Chelsea Smith and Najah Abduh
Dr. Allen currently serves as Chief Dental Officer at United Concordia Dental, where he leads national efforts in oral health strategy, access to care, interprofessional collaboration, and education on the vital connection between oral and systemic health. His distinguished career includes more than 30 years of service in the United States Air Force, where he retired as a Major General and served as Chief of the Dental Corps in the Office of the Air Force Surgeon General.
Through this partnership, United Concordia Dental affirms its commitment to advancing oral health and education, while Dr. Allen’s presence as presenter underscores the deep impact of HUCD alumni in leadership roles across the profession.
