Dr. Dennis A. Mitchell (DDS ’89) – Shaping the Future of Dental Education and Academic Leadership
Howard University College of Dentistry proudly celebrates the extraordinary achievements of alumnus Dr. Dennis A. Mitchell, who was recently appointed Dean of the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and Senior Vice President at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Throughout a distinguished career spanning over three decades at Columbia, Dr. Mitchell has continually broken barriers and redefined academic leadership. His impact stretches across the highest levels of higher education, having previously served in pivotal executive roles including Interim Provost, Executive Vice President for University Life, and Senior Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement. Across every title, he has remained a relentless champion for institutional excellence, faculty development, and inclusive campus communities.
