Postdoctoral Dental Education Programs

Howard University College of Dentistry offers postdoctoral dental programs in the fields of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, General Practice Residency and an Advanced Education in General Dentistry.

These programs meet the educational requirements necessary for certification by the respective specialty boards. The five referenced programs fulfill the accreditation standards for postdoctoral specialty programs in dentistry as established by the Commission on Dental Education Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association.

The level of instruction in the courses included in these programs is comparable to that of graduate dental education courses. Research orientation, electives and research opportunities are included. A Certificate of Proficiency is awarded upon completion of the postdoctoral programs. In addition, certificates of proficiency are awarded to the oral and maxillofacial surgery and the general practice residency residents from Howard University Hospital.
